Editorial Desk
Every article, checked at the source.
MamiMarkets connects diaspora shoppers with the vendors who actually stock their kitchens across Canada. Our articles are written the same way, sourced from the people who sell the ingredient, not just the people who Google it.
We started MamiMarkets because "ethnic grocery" listings online kept flattening real dishes into vague, generic descriptions. Our editorial desk exists to fix that on our own site first, from how to choose egusi for a specific soup, to the real difference between goat, lamb, and mutton in a stew.
Our Process
Every article, checked at the source.
02 / Kitchen
Household testing
Prep, ratios, and technique are checked against how the dish is actually cooked at home, not just how one recipe presents it.03 / Region
Regional accuracy
Fufu texture, egusi prep, goat vs. lamb vs. mutton, where a dish varies by region or household, we say so instead of picking one version.04 / Date
Published & correctable
Every article carries a publish date and an update date. Wrong details get fixed, not buried. The Team
Built by the people building MamiMarkets
We're a small team, so we're naming ourselves rather than hiding behind a brand name. Editorial direction sits with the co-founders closest to the product and the customer.
Co-founder & Chief Product Officer
Tayo Olayinka
Oversees MamiMarkets' content and product direction, and built the site's technical SEO foundation from the ground up, including sitemap, indexing, and internal linking, so these guides are the ones diaspora shoppers actually find.Co-founder & CEO
Adeola Adegoke
Sets the company's overall direction, including MamiMarkets' commitment to representing vendors and communities accurately rather than generically. The full founding team also includes Suraj Fehintola (CTO) and Temitope Moshood (Chief Frontend Engineer), who build the platform this editorial work runs on.

What we source
Ingredient names, regional cooking terms, and preparation methods are cross-checked with vendors on the platform. We don't publish nutritional or health claims without a citable source, and we don't guess at facts we can't verify.
How to flag an issue
See something inaccurate, outdated, or missing a regional variation? Email the editorial desk with the article link and what's wrong. Corrections are dated and noted directly on the article.
Know a dish we've got wrong or missed entirely?
Tell us. This page exists because we'd rather be corrected by someone who actually cooks the dish than be technically first to publish.
